This faculty development session explores how alternative assessment approaches can shift the focus from grades to learning, equipping faculty with practical strategies to implement more meaningful and equitable assessment practices across their courses.
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Analyze how traditional grading practices align (or misalign) with their learning goals.
- Evaluate the impact of grading on student motivation, equity, and learning.
- Redesign at least one assignment or assessment using an alternative grading approach that can be implemented in a future course.
