Join colleagues to discuss Kevin Gannon's Radical Hope: A Teaching Manifesto. When done effectively, teaching is by definition emancipatory and hopeful. In our time together, we'll discuss how we might approach opportunities for critical engagement with our individual pedagogical practice, our students, and our institution. Radical Hope surveys the field, tackling everything from impostor syndrome to cell phones in class to allegations of a campus “free speech crisis.” We'll also talk about tangible strategies and practices (including the key takeaways at the conclusion of each chapter) with the goal of reconsidering / reclaiming teachers’ essential role in the discourse of higher education.
